  • Gorelal confessed to killing and burying his lover after police questioning.
  • Skeleton identified by jewelry and clothes, sent for postmortem and DNA testing.

The skeleton of 45-year-old Reshma was found buried seven feet under the ground in Tikwapur village of Uttar Pradesh, NDTV reported.

Reshma, a mother of four boys and three girls, was murdered by her lover, Gorelal in April last year, after the two started having arguments and Gorelal decided that he did'nt want Reshma around anymore.

Reshma's husband Rambabu had passed away three years ago, after which, she had gotten into a relationship with Gorelal. However, her kids did not approve of their relationship and broke all their ties with her. Reshma then started living with Gorelal.

Last year, Reshma's son Babloo sent him an invitation to a wedding in the family and when she did not turn up, he got suspicious and confronted Gorelal.

Gorelal told him that his mother would not return. Initially, Babloo thought vGorelal was not serious but his suspicions grew when Gorelal started evading questions and gave no clear reply.

He then filed a missing persons report, after which police arrested Gorelal and started questioning him. He broke under pressure and confessed to his crime. He also disclosed where Reshma was buried.

Gorelal told the police that he choked Reshma to death and kept the body with him for two days, trying to think of ways to dispose it off. He realised that if he disposed the body in water, it would come up to the surface. So he buried the body deep under the ground.

Deependra Nath Chudhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police said: "Police started an investigation, and the accused was brought to the police station and questioned. Gore admitted to the crime. He said Reshma's husband died three years back and that he was Reshma's brother-in-law...We have recovered the skeleton, and her relatives have identified it by her jewellery and clothes. The skeleton has now been sent for postmortem and DNA testing."

Reshma's bones have been sent for forensic examination.
