Competition Appellate Tribunal stayed CCI's penalty of Rs 151.69 crore imposed on Jet Airways for alleged cartelisation in fixing fuel surcharge on air cargo.

The tribunal's decision follows an appeal filed by the airline against the CCI order passed in November 2015.

Competition Commission of India (CCI) had slapped a total fine of Rs 258 crore on three carriers, including Jet Airways.

The penalties on the two others - IndiGo and SpiceJet -- were stayed by the tribunal on February 9.

Staying CCI's impugned order on Jet's appeal, the tribunal said it would hear the matter on March 9.

"It is made clear that if the appellants fail to serve the notice on either of the respondents, the interim order passed today shall stand automatically vacated," Compat said.

Earlier, the tribunal had stayed penalties of Rs 63.74 crore and Rs 42.48 crore imposed on InterGlobe Aviation and SpiceJet, respectively.

    InterGlobe runs budget carrier IndiGo.

The fair trade watchdog had fined the three entities for concerted action in fixing and revising fuel surcharge for transporting cargo. They were also directed to cease and desist from indulging in anti-competitive practices.

CCI's order followed a complaint filed by Express Industry Council of India, which had alleged that the five airlines indulged in anti-competitive practices.
