Vodafone Idea's Chief Technology and Strategy Officer as well as Data Privacy Officer Mathan Babu Kasilingam has stepped down after four years, as per a LinkedIn post on October 25 by the outgoing executive.
"Vi has its best days ahead and I can’t wait to see what its future holds. Serving as CTSO & DPO and working with such a fantastic, dedicated team to accomplish all that we have was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life," Kasilingam wrote, without citing reasons for his exit or his next move.
As the CTSO & Data Privacy Officer at Vi, Kasilingam provided leadership for cybersecurity initiatives, and facilitated coordination with government and regulatory bodies to develop compliance guidelines.
Kasilingam's departure comes when Vi has closed multi-billion dollar deals with top European vendors Ericsson and Nokia and South Korea's Samsung to modernise and expand its 4G network and start deploying commercial fifth-generation or 5G services.
Under his leadership, the telco achieved the SOC2 Type II attestation in April this year, making it the only telecom operator in India to complete the SOC 2 Type II attestation.
The attestation was awarded after a stringent evaluation process conducted by AICPA (Association of International Certified Professional Accountants) registered independent CPA and VISTA InfoSec based on the SOC 2 “Trust Service” for managing customer data on key parameters like security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.
