Nifty 5400 Put adds 17.5 lakh shares in Open Interest

FIIs were net buyers of Rs 419 crore in Index Futures, which open interest (OI) was up by 2098 contracts. Total stock futures added 1.7 crore shares in OI.

Nifty Open Interest PCR was up to 1.29 from 1.26. Nifty 5400 Put added 17.5 lakh (24%) shares in Open Interest while Nifty 5700 Call added 6.15 lakh (12%) shares in Open Interest.

Bharti Airtel witnessed short covering & cash based buying on Tuesday. The stock rallied 2.9%; its OI was down by 4.5% and delivery volume jumped at 19.5 lakh shares (62%) versus 11.4 lakh (50%).

Long buildup & cash based buying were seen in Tech Mahindra and IFCI. Tech Mahindra shot up 9.4%; its OI was up by 25% and delivery volume went up at 4.9 lakh shares versus 20k shares.

IFCI rose 5.2%; its OI was up by 7.2% and delivery volume increased at 52.4 lakh shares versus 17.9 lakh shares.

Marginal buildup was seen in Suzlon Energy ahead of Gamesa news. The stock was up 3.3%; its OI went up by 2% and NSE delivery volume declined at 21.6 lakh versus 30.2 lakh shares.

Speculative buying was seen in Polaris and Kingfisher Airlines. Polaris surged 5.7%; its OI was up by 15% and NSE volume slipped at 1.1 lakh versus 1.9 lakh shares.

Kingfisher jumped 5.1%; its OI was up by 2% and NSE volume increased at 5.1 lakh versus 4.2 lakh shares.
