FIIs net buy Rs 1262 cr in Index Futures on Mon

FIIs were net buyers of Rs 1,262 crore in Index Futures, which open interest (OI) was down by 4396 contracts on Monday. Total stock futures added 3 crore shares in OI.

Nifty Open Interest PCR was up at 1.34 versus 1.28. Nifty 5400 Put added 12.8 lakh shares in OI while Nifty 5900 Call added 6.2 lakh (13%) shares in OI.

Suzlon Energy witnessed cash based selling & short buildup. The stock was down 2.5% and its OI was up by 13%. Promoters sold 2.25% stake or 4 crore shares yesterday.

Long buildup & speculative buying were seen in Reliance Capital. The stock rallied 10%; its OI was up by 12.4%.

Short covering & cash based buying were seen in heavyweight Reliance Industries. The stock rose 2.8%; its OI was down 1% and delivery volume increased at 44 lakh shares versus 17 lakh.

Short covering was seen in BPCL. The stock gained 4%; its OI was down by 11% and delivery volume declined at 2.8 lakh shares versus 3.8 lakh.

Fresh longs were seen in Jet Airways. The stock went up 6%; its OI was up by 9% and delivery volume jumped at 2.1 lakh shares versus 97,000 shares.

Fresh shorts & cash based selling were seen in Karnataka Bank. The stock fell 2%; its OI was up by 21% and delivery volume increased at 10.6 lakh shares as against 3.5 lakh shares.
