  • Ather sold 20,780 scooters in Jan 2026, holding 16.3% market share
  • Ola Electric's Q2 loss narrowed, but revenue fell 43% year-on-year

Electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy reported a sharp improvement in its financial performance for the third quarter ended December 31, 2025, with losses narrowing to Rs 84.6 crore and revenue rising by 50% to Rs 954 crore on the back of higher sales.

The Bengaluru-based company posted a net loss of Rs 84.6 crore for the quarter, down 57% from Rs 197.5 crore in the same period last year. Losses also narrowed sequentially from Rs 154.1 crore in the September quarter, reflecting improving operating leverage.

Revenue from operations rose 50% year-on-year to Rs 953.6 crore, compared with Rs 634.9 crore a year earlier, driven by higher electric scooter deliveries and better realisations. Including other income, total income stood at Rs 995.7 crore for the quarter.

Ather Energy sold around 20,780 scooters in January 2026, securing the third spot in terms of Market share with 16.3%, as per data from Vahan portal.

While revenue grew strongly, total expenses increased too, rising 26.8% to Rs 1,075.3 crore from Rs 847.9 crore in the year-ago period. The moderation in cost growth helped the company narrow its losses.

Raw material and component costs remained the largest expense as Ather ramped up production to meet demand. Employee benefit expenses and other operating costs also increased as the company continued to invest in engineering, manufacturing and retail expansion.

Ather continues to focus on expanding its product portfolio, strengthening its supply chain and increasing its physical presence across key markets.

India’s electric two-wheeler sector has seen intense price competition, pushing manufacturers to balance growth with a clear path to profitability.

Ather's close peer, Ola Electric reported a narrower consolidated net loss of Rs 418 crore for the September quarter (Q2 FY26), compared with a loss of Rs 495 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue from operations, however, declined 43 percent year-on-year to Rs 690 crore from Rs 1,214 crore in the same quarter last year, indicating weaker sales performance during the period.
