SpiceJet has announced the launch of non-stop flights between Ahmedabad and Sharjah starting February 5 further enhancing air connectivity between India and the United Arab Emirates. With this addition, Sharjah will become the airline's second destination in the UAE after Dubai, marking another step in the expansion of its international footprint.
The Ahmedabad-Sharjah service will operate five times a week, excluding Tuesdays and Wednesdays, providing travellers with greater flexibility for journeys to the Middle East. The route is expected to cater to business travellers, leisure passengers and the sizeable Indian expatriate population in the region, complementing SpiceJet's existing overseas operations.
Ahmedabad's status as a major economic and cultural centre, with strong trade ties, tourism flows and diaspora connections to the UAE, makes Sharjah a strategically important addition to SpiceJet's network.
"Sharjah's standing as the cultural capital of the UAE and its role as a key regional hub make it a valuable addition to our route map. The launch reflects rising demand for travel between India and the UAE, and underlines our commitment to strengthening regional connectivity," said Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet.
Sharjah, the UAE's third-largest emirate, is uniquely positioned with borders touching all six other emirates. The city is known for its rich cultural heritage, featuring museums, historic mosques and archaeological sites along its eastern coastline that date back to the second millennium BCE.
Bookings for the new Ahmedabad-Sharjah flights are now open on SpiceJet's website, mobile application and through authorised travel partners, ahead of the service launch in February.
