Kerala women to receive Rs 1,000 monthly assistance under Sthree Suraksha Scheme: Check eligibility and application steps
Under the Sthree Suraksha Scheme, eligible beneficiaries are entitled to a monthly pension of Rs 1,000. The payment will be deposited directly into the beneficiary’s bank account through the Kerala Social Security Pension Company after due verification by the local authorities.

- In October, the Kerala government launched the Sthree Suraksha Scheme, a women’s security initiative targeted at women who are not covered under any existing social welfare programmes. Applications for the scheme are now open. Eligible beneficiaries can receive financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month. The initiative is expected to cover around 31.34 lakh women across the state. An annual budget allocation of Rs 3,800 crore has been set aside to fund the scheme. The assistance amount will be transferred straight to the beneficiary’s bank account through the Kerala Social Security Pension Company after verification by the concerned local authorities. - Eligibility criteria • The applicant must be a woman resident of Kerala • Age should be between 35 and 60 years • Must belong to a family registered with a valid Ration Card • Aadhaar number must be linked and valid • Applicant should not be a regular government employee Documents required • Proof showing that the applicant is a resident of Kerala • Age verification document, such as a birth certificate, school record, driving licence, passport, or a medical certificate, where applicable • Aadhaar details (compulsory) • Bank account information, including the IFSC code • Valid ration card (AAY or PHH category) • A self-attested declaration stating that the applicant meets the eligibility conditions Steps to apply for Sthree Suraksha Scheme • Visit the KSMART portal: https://ksmart.lsgkerala.gov.in • Log in as a citizen using your registered mobile number and OTP (New users must complete Citizen Registration first) • Click on Apply and select Sthree Suraksha Scheme • Choose your Local Self-Government Institution • Enter Aadhaar number and name exactly as per Aadhaar, and validate • Accept the Aadhaar consent and proceed • Verify the Ration Card details fetched by the system • Fill in personal details such as address, mobile number, and age • Enter employment details and bank account information • Upload required documents: * Proof of age (Birth Certificate / Passport, etc.) * Applicant’s photograph • Complete the eligibility declaration section • Preview the application and submit • Verify using OTP and submit the final application • Download or save the acknowledgement receipt for reference
The authorities have cautioned that any pension secured by providing incorrect or misleading information will be recovered along with 18 per cent interest. Applicants have therefore been advised to apply only if they genuinely meet the eligibility conditions.
