Speaking about Jio’s evolving role, Ambani said, “Jio will play an even bigger role in India's AI transformation" and made three major announcements on behalf of RIL.
‘From internet era to intelligence era’
Highlighting Jio’s impact over the past decade, Ambani said the company would now pivot from data connectivity to AI-driven services.
“Jio connected India to the internet era, Jio will now connect India to the Intelligence Era. We will deliver intelligence to every citizen, every sector of the economy and every facet of social development and every service of government,"he said.
He said that Jio will do so with the same reliability, quality, scale and extreme affordability that transformed connectivity.
“India cannot afford to rent intelligence. We will reduce the cost of intelligence as dramatically as we did the cost of data," he said.
Rs 10 lakh crore investment plan
The RIL chairman announced that Jio, along with Reliance, will invest Rs 10 lakh crore over the next seven years, starting this year.
"This isn't speculative investment to chase valuation ... this is disciplined nation-building capital designed to create durable economic value and strategic resilience for decades to come," he said.
Sovereign compute infrastructure
In his third major announcement, Mukesh Ambani said Jio will build India’s sovereign compute infrastructure through three bold initiatives.
"One - Gigawatt scale data centres. We have started construction on multi-GW AI-ready data centres at Jamnagar. 120MW will come online this year," he said.
He also announced a green energy advantage, saying that RIL has an inhouse energy advantage with up to 10GW of ready green power in both Kutch and Andhra Pradesh.
He also announced the development of a nationwide edge compute layer deeply integrated with Jio Network to make intelligence responsive, low latency and affordable close to where people live, learn and work.
"Our aim is clear: make intelligence as ubiquitous as connectivity," he said.
Leveraging Jio’s Scale
During his speech earlier, Mukesh Ambani noted that Jio’s existing digital footprint gives it a unique advantage in leading India’s AI push.
With over 500 million subscribers, Jio has been central to India’s internet revolution over the past decade, he said.
