Charlie Munger, vice-chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, passed away on November 28, 2023.

"If I get to spend a day more with Charlie Munger, I would do the same things that we used to," said Berkshire Hathaway chairperson Warren Buffet, fondly remembering his longtime partner and friend at the firm's annual shareholders meeting on May 4.

Charlie Munger, vice-chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, passed away on November 28, 2023.

While sharing his memories with Munger, Buffett said, "He liked learning and a wide variety of things. And we did a lot of fun together, including playing tennis."

Munger never exercised except for when it was required in the army, said Buffett. "He never did voluntary exercise or thought about what he ate," said Buffett.

Buffett said, "Charlie used to say, 'Tell me where I'm going to die and I will never go there'." Nonetheless, Munger went everywhere with his mind.

"He was not interested in the world at 99 but the world was interested in him," said Buffett. All the analysts wanted to talk with Charlie and he was happy to talk with them, said the chairperson.

Buffett also remembered calling him when long-distance rates were high and how fun it used to be to talk with Munger over phone.

In addition to being the vice-chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, Munger was a real estate attorney, chairman and publisher of the Daily Journal Corp. He was also a member of the Costco board, a philanthropist and an architect.

This Shareholder Meeting is Berkshire Hathaway's first meeting without Munger. This has put spotlight on vice chairmen Greg Abel and Ajit Jain.

When Buffett was asked about Abel and Jain, he said, "When you have got Greg and Ajit, why settle for me? I can't imagine anything better. Greg has incredible energy and nobody has more wisdom in insurance then Jain."
