National Stock Exchange (NSE) on May 7 announced that it shall conduct special live trading session with the intra-day switchover from Primary site to Disaster Recovery site on Saturday, May 18, 2024 in equity and equity derivative segments to check their preparedness to handle major disruption or failure at the primary site.
The special live trading session will have an intra-day switchover from Primary Site (PR) to Disaster Recovery (DR) site.
A DR site is necessary for all critical institutions like exchanges so that operations can be done seamlessly and smoothly if any extraneous event affects the functioning of the main trading centre in Mumbai.
The session will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be a 45-minute session starting at 9:15 am. The second special live trading session will commence at 11:45 am and conclude at 12:40 pm.
During the special session, all securities, including those on which derivative products are available, will have a maximum price band of 5 percent.
Securities already in the 2 percent or lower price band will continue to be available in the respective bands. This measure prevents excessive volatility and maintains market stability during the drill.
Timings are as follows:
*Cash Segment: Live trading session on Saturday, May 18 2024
*Session 1: Live trading from Primary Site
Normal Market open time -- 09:15 hrs

A special trading session is being held to evaluate the readiness of Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs) in handling unforeseen events such as system outages affecting their operations. It aims to assess their ability to restore operations from the disaster recovery site, aligning with SEBI's framework for business continuity.
