The benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices are expected to open flat to negative on May 28, following GIFT Nifty trends indicating a loss of 14 points for the broader index.

The record run continued on Dalal Street with benchmark indices hitting fresh all-time highs led by buying seen in the realty, banking and Information Technology stocks. However, the last hour selling erased all the day's gains.

At close, the Sensex was down 19.89 points or 0.03 percent at 75,390.50, and the Nifty was down 24.65 points or 0.11 percent at 22,932.45.

GIFT Nifty (Flat)

Asian Equities (Mixed)

Asian markets were range-bound on Tuesday as investors assessed comments from the European Central Bank officials signaling that rate cuts may be on the horizon for the world’s largest economic bloc.

Asian currencies were trading mixed against the US dollar in today's trade. Over the past month, the performance of Asian currencies was mixed, while, year-to-date, all Asian currencies have weakened, with a loss between 2-10 percent. At 06.50 IST, Asian currencies were trading as follows.

Gold prices were trading flat, while Silver prices gained nearly 0.5 percent in early trade on Tuesday.

Oil prices were steady in early Asian trading on Tuesday as investors awaited inflation data to assess future U.S. monetary policy and the production policy decisions from the OPEC+ meeting on June 2.

LME commodity prices were trading mixed in the early session on Tuesday with Aluminium prices up 1.5 percent, ,Nickel prices up nearly 1 percent and Copper prices down nearly 1 percent.

Foreign institutional investors turned net sellers on May 27 as they sold Indian equities worth Rs 541.22 crore. On the other hand, domestic institutional investors bought Rs 922.6 crore worth of equities on the same day.
