
On Thursday, February 12, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs/FPIs) stood net buyers of Indian equities worth Rs 108 crore while Domestic Institutional Investors pumped Rs 277 crore, according to provisional exchange data.
DIIs purchased shares worth Rs 17,214 crore and sold shares worth Rs 16,937 crore. In contrast, FIIs bought shares worth Rs 17,950 crore, but sold shares totaling Rs 17,841 crore.
For the year so far, FPI/FIIs have been net sellers of shares worth Rs 34,621 crore, while DIIs have net bought shares worth Rs 73,437 crore.
Market Performance
Indian equity markets ended lower on February 12, 2026, with benchmark indices closing in the red. The Sensex declined by 558.72 points (0.66%) to settle at 83,674.92, while the Nifty 50 slipped 146.65 points (0.57%) to close at 25,807.20.
Aakash Shah, Technical Research Analyst at Choice Equity Broking, reflected on the market performance today. "After showing weak sideways-to-bearish movement in the first half, it fell to an intraday low of 25,752 before closing slightly higher at 25,807.20. Immediate resistance is seen in the 25,900–25,950 zone, with support placed at 25,650–25,700. The RSI at 53.87 indicates neutral momentum with a mild bearish bias, suggesting limited short-term upside," Shah said.
Bank Nifty began flat and stayed sideways, signalling market indecision. It peaked at 60,864, dropped to 60,597 and ended 5.6 points lower at 60,739.75. Trading stayed range-bound with profit booking. Resistance stands at 60,950–61,050, support at 60,450–60,550. RSI at 60.61 reflects bullish momentum and ongoing consolidation, showing balanced sentiment and cautious participation from both bulls and bears in near term.
"India VIX climbed 1.54% to 11.72, indicating a slight rise in volatility expectations. In the derivatives segment, heavy put writing at 25,800 and strong call writing at 26,000 point to a narrow trading range. Despite the marginal negative close, the index remains range-bound, supporting a cautiously positive near-term outlook with a buy-on-dips strategy as long as the key support zone holds," he added.
