Shares of Ashok Leyland dropped over 3 percent on November 4 following a slight dip in October sales figures.
As of 11:10 AM, the stock traded 2 percent lower at Rs 204. While it has gained 10 percent year-to-date, in line with Nifty 50's performance, Ashok Leyland has posted monthly losses from August through October.
The company reported total vehicle sales of 15,310 units in October 2024, marking a 9 percent decline compared to 16,864 units in October 2023. Domestic sales dipped 11 percent, with 14,067 units sold compared to 15,759 units the previous year. Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales also dropped 8 percent to 9,408 units, while light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales fell 12 percent to 5,902 units year-over-year.

Total sales of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) trucks fell by 12 percent to 7,455 units in October 2024, compared to 8,454 units a year earlier. Meanwhile, M&HCV bus sales increased by 13 percent year-on-year to 1,953 units, up from 1,731 units in the same period last year.
Ashok Leyland, a key player in commercial vehicles, also manufactures engines for industrial and marine applications, with a product range spanning buses, trucks, engines, defence, and special vehicles.
In Q1 FY25, the company's standalone net profit declined 8.7 percent to Rs 525.58 crore. However, revenue from operations saw a 5 percent year-on-year growth to Rs 8,599 crore for the April-June period, up from Rs 8,189 crore in the same quarter last year.
