Karnataka IT-BT minister Priyank Kharge on November 10 said that 100 engineering colleges in the state will be linked with 100 leading information technology companies.
The objective is to prepare the younger generation for jobs in IT companies by offering skill development training. He added that the adoption of 100 engineering colleges as skill centers will make students industry-ready.
Kharge also held discussions with state medical education and skill development minister Shran Prakash Patil at the Information Technology Consultation Committee, indicating that there is ample scope for jobs for candidates with suitable skills in different IT companies in Bengaluru.
"As there are plenty of jobs in Animation, Gaming, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Automation, Drones, and other areas," he said, "it is necessary to evolve a training programme to make the youth skill-ready to take up such jobs. The teaching and training system needs to be suitably changed in the government to suit the demands from companies for skilled workers to enable the local youth to be trained."
Top executives of the IT companies, who attended the meeting, pointed out that they find it difficult to provide job opportunities to local youth even though there is a large demand for skilled workers. They felt that the programme to provide skill development training to youth with technical educational qualifications would help in making them ready for jobs in the Information Technology sector, according to a statement from the minister's office.
"We have created working groups in AI-ML, Blockchain, Data Scientist, Electronic Manufacturing, Semicon Testing & Packaging, Women in Emerging Technologies: EmpowerHER in Tech, Animation/Gaming/AR-VR, Robotics & Autonomous, BPM/BPOs, Banking, Accounting & Management, etc., Software Development (DevOps, Java, Cybersecurity, etc.), Fintech, Data Centre," Kharge wrote it on X (formerly Twitter)
"By the end of this month, we will have a framework for the government, industry, and academia to ensure we have the most comprehensive blueprint to make Karnataka’s youth the most employable in the country," he said.
