Information technology (IT) major Infosys has partnered with US lender Citizens Financial Group to set up an AI-first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru.

The Bengaluru hub will serve as an AI-first GCC, focused on accelerating AI-driven change across Citizens’ banking operations, product development, and customer experience. Infosys, in a release, said it will act as a delivery partner, contributing its AI, cloud, and cybersecurity capabilities to support Citizens’ AI-first operating model.

It is worth noting that Citizens Group had, in April 2025, announced a joint initiative with Infosys rival Cognizant to launch a GCC in Hyderabad.

“This engagement with Citizens, complements the existing partnership focused on AI transformation, which has helped the bank advance innovation and enhance customer service,” the company further added.

Moreover, the partnership comes at a time when global banks are expanding India-based GCCs to scale AI development, talent, and digital product engineering.

India is home to over 130 BFSI GCCs, employing about 1,37,000 people.

Meanwhile, India’s second-largest IT company will leverage its Topaz platform to support the development of agent-ready capabilities that integrate infrastructure, data, models, applications, and workflows.

The company said this approach is aimed at speeding up the delivery of new digital banking products while improving operational efficiency and security.

Citizens said the AI-first innovation hub reflects its long-term push to embed artificial intelligence across its technology ecosystem and build a skilled global workforce.

“Partnering with leading technology firms like Infosys and leveraging Infosys Topaz Fabric is helping transform how we serve our customers by integrating advanced AI at the core of our operations to deliver more modern, secure, and personalized banking experiences,” Michael Ruttledge, Head of Enterprise Technology & Security, Citizens Financial Group, was quoted as saying in the release.
