IT services major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on April 10 said the firm is deferring wage hikes this year and will be rolled out "based on business environment".
"Because of the uncertain environment, we will decide during the year on wage hikes. It can be at anytime, depending on business," said Chief HR Officer Milind Lakkad at the post-Q4 results press conference in Mumbai.
"Fresher hiring will be similar or may be higher in FY26," added Lakkad.
Lakkad declined to comment about the quantum of hikes and said it will depend on "business environment".
Meanwhile, the software major added 625 employees during the fourth quarter of financial year 2025 - January to March period.
The total employee count at the end of March was 6,07,979, marginally up from 6,07,354 in the previous quarter ending December.
For the full year, TCS' employee count was higher by 6,433 taking the total workforce at the end of March 2025 to 6,07,979 from 6,01,546 at the end of March 2024.
Lakkad said the company's trainee onboarding in FY25 was 42,000 as planned. "We continue to hire from campus, but it could be slightly higher this year than what we added last year," he said.
The attrition for the quarter rose up a bit to 13.3% as against 13% in Q3. Lakkad said he is not worried on rising attrition as the quarterly annualised attrition rate has come down by 130 bps.
"Although TTM attrition has marginally increased, our quarterly annualised attrition rate has come down by 130 bps," said Lakkad.
TCS posted lower-than-expected revenue for the fourth quarter due to persistent weakness in North America, its largest market.
Its consolidated revenue rose 5.3% to Rs 64,479 crore in the quarter. Quarterly net profit for TCS fell 1.69% to Rs 12,224 crore.
