FMCG firm Emami Ltd today reported 35.09 percent increase in net profit at Rs 79.95 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2013 on improved margins. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 59.18 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
Also Read: Emami to acquire Philippines-based Splash Corp: SourcesEmami's net sales in the quarter under review were at Rs 406.74 crore, an increase of 12.77 percent compared with Rs 360.66 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous year, the company said in a BSE filing. "In spite of the weak macro environment for the FMCG industry, Emami Ltd has sustained a satisfactory growth pattern. Strong performance by our power brands like Fair and Handsome and BoroPlus in key categories have led to topline growth," Emami Director Mohan Goenka said.
Fair and Handsome registered grwoth of 20 percent and BoroPlus grew by 30 percent, Goenka added. Overall expenses during the quarter were at Rs 325.3 crore, an increase of 7.62 percent as against Rs 302.24 crore in the same quarter last year. In the half year period ended September 30, 2013, Emami reported net profit of Rs 140.62 crore as against net profit of Rs 105.79 in the corresponding period in the previous year. Emami Ltd's shares closed at Rs 478.95 per scrip at the end of the day's trade, down 0.21 percent from its previous close, on the BSE.
