NHPC Q4 standalone PAT seen down 45% at Rs 351 cr

State-owned electricity generation company NHPC's standalone profit after tax is expected to fall 45% over a year ago period to Rs 351 crore for the fourth quarter of FY12, according to CNBC-TV18 poll.

    State-owned electricity generation company NHPC's standalone profit after tax is expected to fall 45% over a year ago period to Rs 351 crore for the fourth quarter of FY12, according to CNBC-TV18 poll.


    Total income is seen going down by 13% year-on-year to Rs 994 crore during January-March quarter of 2012.


    EBITDA too is likely to decline 45% to Rs 544 crore from Rs 993 crore during the same period. Operating profit margin is expected to drop at 54.71% versus 87.23% year-on-year/

    Expectations


    - Expect a decline in top line due to decline in generation YoY


    - During Jan-Feb 2012, company’s power generation stood at 1.2 billion units (down 10% YoY)


    - EBITDA and PAT decline expected mainly on account of water cess charges and prior period charges in Q4FY12
    * Q3FY12 other expenses stood at Rs 275 crore; comprising of water cess charges and prior period charges


    NHPC is expected to gross up revenues at full tax rate
