ICICI Lombard General Insurance, in a regulatory filing on Saturday, has informed stock exchanges that a designated employee “inadvertently” uploaded draft financial information related to the company’s unaudited results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2025, on their personal WhatsApp Status.
The incident occurred on January 9 at around 5:44 pm and the post was deleted within an hour, the insurer said. ICICI Lombard clarified that the information was still in draft form and subject to change as the audit process is ongoing. As a precaution and in line with corporate governance norms, the company reported the matter to the exchanges.
The insurer said it has initiated an internal inquiry under SEBI’s Prohibition of Insider Trading Regulations, 2015, and its own Insider Trading Code. The findings of the inquiry will be shared with the stock exchanges after it is completed. The matter will also be taken up in the forthcoming meetings of the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors.
ICICI Lombard has cautioned investors not to rely on any financial information unless it is officially released following board approval of audited results. Details of the incident will also be uploaded on the company’s website.
The disclosure comes just days after a similar incident at dairy major Hatsun Agro Product Ltd. On January 5, the Chennai-based company told exchanges that one of its Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) had “inadvertently” uploaded the first cut draft of its unaudited third-quarter results on his personal WhatsApp Status.
“We would like to inform you that, one of our Key Managerial Personnel (KMP), while sharing (internally with the Accounts department of the company) the first cut draft of the unaudited financial statements of the Company for the quarter ended 31 December 2025, inadvertently uploaded the draft figures [which may constitute certain Unpublished Price Sensitive Information of the Company (UPSI)] to his personal Whatsapp Status at about 5.00 pm yesterday (4th January, 2026),” the stock exchange filing said.
“This was seen by around 19 people in his contact list including some Insiders of the Company. Immediately on becoming aware of this incident, the KMP deleted the above WhatsApp Status within an hour's time from his phone,” the statement added.
Hatsun Agro said the numbers were in a “very draft form” and subject to further review. The company said it chose to report the incident as a “precautionary measure” and to maintain a “high degree of corporate governance”.
