While the BJP highlighted the success of central and state schemes implemented in the state, the Congress banked on anti-incumbency sentiment and corruption allegations against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to turn the tide in its favour.

The state polls involved bigwigs such as Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Budhni, former Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar from Dimni, Prahlad Singh Patel in Narsinghpur, Faggan Singh Kulaste in Niwas, and former Chief Minister and Congress veteran Kamal Nath in Chhindwara.

What are exit polls?

Exit polls are conducted by private organisations to predict election outcomes. These surveys generally entail questioning individuals about their voting preferences as they leave the polling stations after casting their votes.

Conducted to assess election outcomes, exit polls seek to predict the winner and comprehend voter trends. Although not accurate, these polls typically provide a reasonably reliable insight into an election. The premise during exit polls is that individuals are more inclined to truthfully express their opinions immediately after casting their votes just outside the polling booth.

When will the exit polls be announced?

The exit poll results of Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections will be announced on November 30 after 6 pm.  The poll panel, which manages elections across the country, had prohibited “conducting and publishing or publicising exit poll by means of print or electronic media or dissemination in any other manner whatsoever” between 7 am on November 7 and 6.30 pm on November 30.
