Congress looks to retain power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, while the BJP is also eyeing another term in Madhya Pradesh.

What are exit polls?

Exit polls are surveys administered by private organisations to anticipate election results. These polls typically involve querying individuals about their voting choices as they exit the polling booths following the completion of their votes.

While holding exit polls, it is assumed that people are more likely to tell the truth right outside the polling booth after immediately casting their votes. However, it is different from pre-election polls. According to the Times, the pre-election poll offers an indication of public opinion as the parties narrow their fields of candidates.  Although sometimes incorrect, exit polls are widely popular in India.

When will the exit polls be announced?

The exit poll results of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram Assembly elections will be announced on November 30 after 6 pm.  The poll panel had prohibited “conducting and publishing or publicising exit poll by means of print or electronic media or dissemination in any other manner whatsoever” between 7am on November 7 and 6:30pm on November 30.
