Nawat Itsaragrisil files defamation case against Miss Universe 2025 Fatima Bosch Fernandez; Says he didn’t call her a ‘dumbhead’

Miss Universe 2025 was mired in controversy due to cracks within the organisation and for crowning Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, as a compensation for the bad reputation the organisation faced after Miss Grand International (MGI) president Nawat Itsaragrisil had allegedly insulted her. However, MGI and Nawat have now clarified that he did not insult Bosch and has now filed a “criminal complaint” against her for repeatedly defaming him.

In a new Facebook post shared by Miss Universe Thailand, MGI and Nawat clarified the incident that occurred on November 4, 2025, during the pageant, which was widely reported by the media, and stated:

“We wish to reaffirm that Mr Nawat Itsaragrisil never called Ms. Fatima Bosch a ‘dumbhead.’ What he said was ‘damage,’ which is clearly audible in the voice recordings that have already been widely circulated across various platforms.

The sentence he said was: ‘If you follow the order from your national director you’re damage, if you not you can do it. I very happy and the good report will go to organise…’”

The statement further noted that Bosch made false accusations in the media after walking out of the room and did not apologise even after learning the facts. “Instead, she continued to falsely accuse him in multiple interviews, seemingly for personal gain and to justify herself throughout the competition—after which she was ultimately crowned Miss Universe, as everyone is aware.”

What is upsetting to MGI and Nawat is that even after holding the title, Bosch has not stopped giving interviews to various media outlets “misrepresenting the incident” and repeatedly “defaming Nawat.” As a result, he has now lodged a defamation case against her.

“Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil has formally filed a criminal complaint against Ms. Fatima Bosch Fernandez in Thailand on 12 November 2025. If any further defamatory actions are discovered, additional legal action will be taken to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement read.

Just a few weeks ago, Miss Universe 2025 Fatima Bosch also opened up about the controversy surrounding her win and the vile attacks she has faced since her victory. She stood firm, saying she will not let the hate define her or dim her light.
