Often struggling to stay awake during the office meetings, your eyes feeling heavy and your focus drifting away when you have deadlines looming? These are common symptoms of workplace fatigue.
Staying active and energised at workplace adds to productivity, professionalism and promotions. Workplace fatigue can hamper all three while staying active can not only improve your work but also reduce stress and worry.
"Energy is emotion in motion, and your emotions are the root of your energy," says Shraddha Subramanian, Intuition Expert, Business Coach, and Founder & CEO of Sparkling Soul. She adds, “Energy is vital for concentration. It is also directly proportional to the positive outcomes you can produce. Therefore it is important for you to focus on honing your energy to be creative and productive everyday.”
Subramanian shares a few ways to keep your energy upbeat:
Energy map: Create an energy map by tracking your energy levels every hour or two throughout the day as high (H), medium (M), low (L), very high (VH), or very low (VL) for at least 5 days. Note what people, situations, or internal dialogues influence your energy levels. This awareness helps identify the people and situations that inspire you and understand your internal dialogue during high-energy (feeling energetic) and low-energy (feeling drained) times. Use this insight to focus on elements that boost your energy and replace low-energy zones with these elements.

Do not control: Stop controlling things and people, and focus on being in charge of your energy. Delegate work whenever possible and trust in your team. Instead of worrying about a problem, reset your energy to find a solution. This mindset helps you bounce back faster from energy drains.
Practice energy enhancers: Simple activities can maintain your energy and focus. Your energy enhancers could be a quick chat with a colleague, a laugh, two deep breaths, stretching your legs, taking a walk, or simply closing your eyes and expressing gratitude.
Create boundaries: Boundaries are important at workplace as they help keep your energy intact. Speak up to set clear boundaries about what’s acceptable and what’s not. Set aside specific times for breaks. Also, maintain a physical and virtual distance to create a distraction free work environment.
Be present: Your presence matters. Avoid energy leaks by being present where you are. Maintain discipline to complete tasks by creating self-notes every hour or two. Summarise your day and plan for the next day in advance.
