Saif Ali Khan rocks 18k gold and ruby brooch worth Rs 42 lakh ahead of Valentine’s Day

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is not just a fine actor, but also someone with impeccable fashion sense. You can always count on the actor to pull off a casual look also with a lot of poise and royal charm. Recently, the actor stepped out with his wife and actor Kareena Kapoor Khan to visit a Tiffany & Co. boutique in Mumbai.  Well, Valentine's Day is round the corner and Valentine's Week is going on. So, no prizes for guessing that the actor couple was on a shopping spree.

Dressed in an all-black ensemble, what was the most striking aspect about the actor's look was his diamond-ruby brooch. Big enough in size to seize the attention and attractive enough to tempt one to buy, reportedly, the brooch reportedly costs around USD 47,000 (Rs 42.4 lakh). The actor quite effortlessly made a fashion statement in the iconic Tiffany & Co.’s Jean Schlumberger Bird sitting on a Rock brooch.

Brooches are a cool men's fashion accessory that was once worn by kings, leaders and nobles. Going by NDTV's report, the brooch was listed on Sotheby's website for a whopping price of $47,000 (around Rs 42.6 lakh).

India's celebrity jewellery expert Priyanshu Goel also shared a video and wrote, "Saif Ali Khan just proved that jewellery for men is not limited to watches and rings."

The brooch is reportedly a 18K accessory for women that is crafted in yellow gold and platinum. It comes encrusted with ruby, diamonds and a citrine. The bird features a bird and a decent-sized citrine below it. There are 71 round diamonds encrusted in the bird. Each diamond weighs around 3K and the citrine weighs around 55K. Given the weight of the brooch is 40.3 gm, it helps one wrap their head around the price tag.

About the brooch, one of the captions on the official page of Tiffany & Co. read that the brooch was first introduced by designer Jean Schlumberger in 1965, and that the The Bird on a Rock quickly became one of Tiffany & Co.’s most legendary creations.
