Stone, with its innate strength, elegance, and timeless appeal, has long been a staple in Indian architecture and design. Whether it's the cool, luxurious feel of marble, the rustic charm of sandstone, or the earthy warmth of granite, stone elements can elevate the ambiance of any space, offering a perfect balance between durability and design. As stone furniture and finishes are making a significant comeback one can invest in various kinds of intricate marble furniture, vibrant hand-painted tile patterns or accent pieces in carved stones to create a beautiful contrast in a modern setting.

Stones lend themselves to be crafted into any shape one desires. One can discover an astonishing range of furniture pieces and products, including vanities, carved out of marble. For using stone as base material in décor, Hridik Chawla, co-founder of Essentia Home, informs, “Innovative stone designs allows indoor furniture to transition effortlessly into open terraces, much like a tree reaching toward the sunlight. This integration not only enhances versatility, but also brings a fresh, organic touch to your living spaces, making every piece a harmonious extension of nature. Opt for Indian marbles and natural stones in modern silhouettes and shapes that not just look breathtaking but also make it super easy to maintain.”

Trending shades:

The choice of colours also depends upon the overall interior theme. If the home features a muted or a monotone palette, then one can use marble stones in vibrant colours bringing all the attention to them. According to Chawla, colours are always a personal preference. Sharing some interesting approach to colourful stone decor, he adds, “We have always felt that doing neutral shades for larger spaces works best with just one pop of colour adding interest. Go for less striking marbles if there is too much happening already, creating subdued impact. It’s all about maintaining balance and harmony. The loveliest stones come in deep burgundy and emerald green and they pair extremely well together, or with more neutral shades. This season, these two colours getting the most limelight for their unique look in modern homes.”

Fuss-free care:

Stone is one of the most versatile materials available for interior design. Its natural textures and wide range of colors allow it to seamlessly fit into various styles, from minimalist to rustic, from luxurious to industrial. In modern Indian homes, stone can be used in a myriad of ways—think stone-clad walls, marble flooring, granite countertops, or even entire pieces of stone furniture. Stone furniture and décor installations that have been treated with a good quality finish are easy to maintain.

Chawla recommends, “Opt for finish that ensures the products retain their natural luster for a long time. Just a regular cleaning with a soft piece of cloth is enough. However, in general, you can maintain your marble products by way of everyday cleaning and avoiding scratches. Refrain from using harsh cleaning agents as they can erode the finish or the sealant. You can also get the application of the sealant done regularly to maintain the protective barrier. This will keep your marble products in good condition for a long time.”
