When it comes to looking breath-taking on her wedding day, every bride knows that mix of excitement and that tiny flutter of panic. You want your skin to glow, your hair to have that perfect shine, but above all, you want to feel confident and at ease in your skin.
According to Dr Gagan Raina, Medical and Clinical Director, Arisia Skin Clinic, Mumbai, it’s best to start your beauty prep about six months before the wedding. “That gives your skin the chance to really respond to treatments and your body time to settle into new routines,” she suggests tackling any pesky skin troubles like pigmentation or stubborn acne first. “Treatments like micro-needling and laser therapy work wonders when you space them out,” she explains. “It lets your skin heal properly and show gradual, natural improvement.”
Alongside these professional treatments, she advises keeping things simple at home, a gentle cleanser, exfoliation now and then, moisturiser, and of course, sunscreen. “These might sound basic, but they’re the true foundation of a radiant bridal glow,” she says.

Around three months before the wedding, shift your focus to hair and body. From hydrating body polishes and oil massages that nourish skin deeply to targeted scalp treatments that boost hair strength and shine. “If you plan to change your hair colour, now’s the time to do it,” Dr Raina adds. “That way, the colour settles in naturally, avoiding harsh lines or patchiness on your big day.”
Dr Raina suggests effective tips to nail your pre-bridal skincare and haircare
Start early, be patient: Don’t rush your skincare journey. “Beginning six months early means treatments like micro-needling or laser can be spaced comfortably, reducing risk and producing natural, lasting results,” says Dr Raina.
Focus on hair and body: Three months before, invest in hydrating body scrubs, regular oil massages, and scalp therapies. Healthy hair and skin come from consistent care, not last-minute miracles.
Maintain, don’t experiment: One month out, avoid introducing new products or treatments. Stick with what your skin knows and loves. Choose calming facials or gentle massages to ease wedding jitters instead.
Ditch crash diets and harsh scrubs: Last-minute dieting or aggressive scrubs can trigger breakouts or irritations. Your skin and body need nourishment and gentle care, not shock tactics.
Prioritise sleep, hydration, and diet: No cream beats good sleep, drinking water, and eating mindfully. These basics create a natural, radiant glow that no product can replicate.
Embrace imperfection: “Perfection is a myth,” reminds Dr Raina. “Your skin doesn’t have to be flawless. What matters most is confidence and joy, that’s what truly shines on your wedding day.”
