His children with actress Karisma Kapoor have moved the Delhi High Court, accusing his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, of forging his will and attempting to take control of assets worth thousands of crores. Yet, there’s one name from Sunjay’s past that has stayed completely away from the courtroom drama: his first wife, Nandita Mahtani.

Who Is Nandita Mahtani?

Born in 1976, Nandita Mahtani is a prominent Indian fashion designer who has dressed stars like Virat Kohli, Katrina Kaif, and Gauri Khan. She was married to Sunjay Kapur between 1996 and 2000, before the two went their separate ways. While her marriage to Sunjay was brief, Nandita’s career and personal life have kept her in the limelight.

Over the years, she has been linked to several high-profile names. She once dated Ranbir Kapoor, who was said to have a big crush on her, and later shared a long relationship with Dino Morea. Even after their breakup in 2016, Nandita and Dino continued their professional partnership, co-owning a venture called Playground.

Called off Engagement with Vidyut

Her most recent and headline-grabbing relationship was with actor Vidyut Jamwal. Vidyut proposed to Nandita in a dramatic style, rappelling down a 150-meter-high wall in Agra before popping the question. The couple even celebrated their engagement at the Taj Mahal, with their photos going viral. However, after two years, they called off their engagement in 2023, ending their relationship amicably.

Why Is She Not Involved In The Kapur Legal Battle?
The ongoing case revolves around the estate Sunjay left behind, which includes vast assets and wealth. But Nandita Mahtani has no role in it for a very straightforward reason. Her marriage with Sunjay ended over two decades ago, in 2000, and the two never had children together. Legally, this leaves her with no claim or connection to his estate.
