With March shaping up to be a blockbuster month at the cinemas, Yash and Ranveer Singh are headed for a much-talked-about box office clash.
Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is set to release on March 19, the same day as Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, and ever since the teaser of Toxic dropped earlier this week, fans have been buzzing with excitement.
Social media timelines are filled with comparisons, predictions and passionate debates, as audiences eagerly wait to see which film will emerge on top.
Amid all the competitive chatter, a Reddit user recently shifted the tone by resurfacing old interview clips that show a different side of the story — one rooted in mutual respect and admiration between the two stars.
In one video from a 2018 ETV Bharat interview, Yash was asked about his favourite actors from Bollywood. While he named legends Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, he also spoke appreciatively about the younger generation.
Referring to Ranveer Singh, Yash said, “Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh — they are both very good. I didn’t like Ranveer Singh’s work initially, but now he looks very good. I started liking him from Bajirao Mastani, and in Padmaavat, he was stunning. He did an amazing job.”
He also praised Ranbir Kapoor for his performance in Sanju.
The feeling, it turns out, has always been mutual. Another clip doing the rounds features Ranveer Singh speaking fondly about Yash in a 2022 interview with Film Companion. Recalling his experience watching KGF, Ranveer revealed that he was cheering for Yash while watching the film alone, adding, “I love that cinema. It’s my first love.”
Years later, however, the two find themselves on opposite sides of a major release weekend. The teaser of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas, has divided opinion. While some praised its slick, “Hollywood-style” visuals and bold tone, others were underwhelmed, with a few comparing it to Badass Ravikumar “pro max”.
Meanwhile, sections of the internet are already predicting that Dhurandhar 2 will “easily win” the clash.
Toxic marks Yash’s return to the big screen after the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2 and is his 19th film as a lead actor.
The period gangster drama features an ensemble cast including Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair.

On the other side, Ranveer Singh returns as Hamza in Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar. Inspired by real-life events such as the IC-814 hijacking and the Mumbai terror attacks, the film explores Hamza’s origins and his journey through a high-stakes covert mission.
With both films carrying enormous expectations, the clash promises fireworks — but for now, the shared respect between Yash and Ranveer Singh is stealing the spotlight.
