When Shah Rukh Khan revealed Bobby Deol is Gauri Khan’s favourite romantic hero

Shah Rukh Khan, Bollywood’s King of Romance, once made a surprising revelation about his wife Gauri Khan’s taste in romantic heroes. In a candid throwback interview, SRK was asked who Gauri considered her ideal romantic actor. Fans expected him to say his own name, but his answer left everyone shocked.

He said, "That's a great question. You would like to believe it's you, right? No, no, no. I think I was born when such things used to happen. I think she liked Bobby a lot. Bobby Deol. She found him very nice. Recently, she liked Imran Khan. And... Sanjay Dutt. And Feroz Khan. I remember these are the actors she's always liked."

The revelation amused fans, especially those familiar with SRK’s legendary romantic roles in films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Veer-Zaara, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Despite defining the genre for a generation, it turns out Gauri Khan’s personal favourites lean toward actors with very different on-screen personas, including Bobby Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Feroz Khan, and Imran Khan.

Shah Rukh and Gauri’s relationship has been one of the most enduring love stories in Bollywood. The two first met in Delhi in 1984 when SRK was just 18 years old. It was love at first sight for Shah Rukh, who was immediately smitten by Gauri’s simplicity and grace. Their young romance blossomed despite cultural and religious differences, and it wasn’t without hurdles.

In 1989, after several years of dating, the couple briefly broke up. Shah Rukh, devastated, reportedly came to Mumbai searching for her. Two years after their reconciliation, in 1991, Shah Rukh and Gauri got married on October 25 in a traditional Hindu ceremony, just before he made his debut in Bollywood.
