Kendall Jenner has spent the past decade becoming one of fashion’s most recognisable faces — commanding catwalks, fronting major campaigns and turning photo shoots into pop-culture moments.
Among them, one collaboration still stands out for fans on both sides of the world: her 2017 magazine cover with the late Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput — a meeting of two industries that rarely share a frame, yet felt perfectly natural when they did.
The shoot was created for a leading fashion magazine’s 10-year-anniversary special and photographed by Mario Testino.
Jaipur, Rajasthan, played host, with the majestic Samode Palace providing those sweeping corridors and sunlit courtyards that make stylists and photographers light up. Sushant was the only Bollywood actor to appear alongside Kendall for the issue, and that detail alone gave the collaboration a sense of occasion — a little milestone in India’s ongoing conversation with global fashion.
A behind-the-scenes clip that keeps resurfacing online shows Sushant grinning from ear to ear as he heads to set, a small and genuine moment that says everything about the mood of the day. The pictures themselves moved between classic and contemporary: traditional-inspired styling to honour the setting, and a now-famous series in coordinated all-white.
In one image that travelled far beyond the magazine’s usual audience, Kendall leans against Sushant in an off-shoulder top and wide-leg trousers, while the Kai Po Che! actor cuts a sharp figure in a three-piece suit. The magazine later posted highlights to its official Instagram, where the shoot quickly took on a life of its own.
The crossover almost extended to reality television. Speaking to Mid-Day, Sushant said, “In fact, I have also shot a segment for an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”
For anyone who missed the phenomenon, the series follows the Kardashian–Jenner family through their everyday drama and milestones. Quite how Sushant’s cameo would have been woven in remains something of a mystery, but the possibility underlined just how wide the ripple effect of that Jaipur shoot was.
After Sushant’s passing, Mario Testino shared a heartfelt tribute. He posted a striking photograph of the actor wearing an embroidered black velvet jacket, poised beside a vintage car — regal, calm, unmistakably cinematic.
Testino wrote, “Very sad to hear Sushant Singh Rajput passed away today. A wonderful Bollywood actor and a great person leaves us at the very early age of 34. My thoughts go to his family, friends and the Indian film industry who loses a star. RIP."
