Mingus Reedus, the 25-year-old son of The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus and supermodel Helena Christensen, has pleaded not guilty to several misdemeanor charges following his arrest in Manhattan over the weekend.
Court records show that Reedus is facing charges of reckless physical injury, aggravated harassment, and second-degree harassment after appearing in Manhattan Criminal Court on Saturday evening.
The case stems from an alleged altercation inside a Manhattan apartment, which prompted police intervention. Authorities said they responded to a call involving a 33-year-old woman—identified as Reedus’ girlfriend—who claimed she had been assaulted during a dispute.
According to police reports, Reedus was initially taken into custody on suspicion of third-degree assault and obstruction of breathing. The woman alleged she had been punched, choked, and slammed to the ground before officers arrived. She was later transported to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
However, Reedus’ defence team disputes this version of events. His attorney, Priya Chaudhry, argued that her client was the one who contacted authorities after the woman allegedly ingested sleeping pills in an attempt to harm herself. Chaudhry further explained that the pair had already ended their five-month relationship prior to the incident and that the situation had escalated unexpectedly.
Chaudhry also emphasised that the charges filed were misdemeanors rather than more serious felony counts, which she described as an important distinction. “The fact that my client is facing misdemeanors or lesser charges speaks volumes,” she told TMZ, noting that the judge allowed Reedus to be released without bail or supervision. “As the facts emerge, his innocence will become clear,” she added.
In a further twist, a woman identifying herself as Reedus’ girlfriend was later seen leaving the NYPD’s 10th Precinct and reportedly described the incident as a “misunderstanding.” The comment has raised questions about the nature of the confrontation and whether the case may hinge on conflicting accounts between the parties involved.
