Dwayne Johnson stars as Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine

Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson looked unrecognizable in the recently released The Smashing Machine trailer. The actor flawlessly embraced the look of MMA fighter Mark Kerr, leaving his fans shocked.

The makers of the upcoming film have recently created a buzz among the fans by dropping the first full-length trailer of the biographical sports drama.

The trailer was released on the official social media channels of a24 with the caption, “Excited to share the official trailer for Benny Safdie’s THE SMASHING MACHINE, starring Dwayne Johnson and Academy Award nominee Emily Blunt. In theaters October 3rd.”

The trailer provided the first look at Dwayne as famed UFC champ Mark Kerr. The wrestler-turned-superstar looked unrecognisable in a dark wig and full facial prosthetics. Besides this, Dwayne showed his effort and brought Mark’s character to life with the perfect Ohio-area accent.

Mark then responded, “Well, have you ever heard of the Ultimate Fighting Championship? The UFC?" after a ring flashbacks and the brutal beatdowns were shown.

The trailer explores Mark’s life as a UFC fighter and navigates his relationship with Dawn, played by Emily Blunt. The trailer further teased Mark’s struggles with addiction to painkillers.

He said in the trailer, “Winning is the best feeling there is. It's 40,000 people in there cheering you on,” adding, “There's no other high like it in the world.”

Dwayne Johnson will star as MMA fighter Mark Kerr, whose life inspired a 2002 documentary. The upcoming film will show Kerr's career highs, struggles with addiction, and his relationship with his girlfriend, played by Emily Blunt. The Smashing Machine is slated to release on October 3, 2025.
