The Madras Mystery—Fall of a Superstar is a gripping period crime drama that SonyLIV is getting ready to release. The highly anticipated series will start on November 6, 2025, with Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Nazriya Nazim Fahadh playing the main characters.
A Story from the Past
The show, which takes place in the 1940s, looks at the famous Lakshmikanthan murder case again. It was one of India's most dramatic crime cases. After Tamil journalist Lakshmikanthan was stabbed to death on November 7, 1944, a high-profile trial shook the British Indian Madras Presidency.
MK The case involved Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, the first Tamil cinema star, actor NS Krishnan, and director Srimulu Naidu. Bhagavathar and Krishnan were convicted and sent to jail until a fresh trial in 1947 cleared their names. Naidu, on the other hand, was not found guilty. The incident, though, ended Bhagavathar's great career, and he died poor in 1959.
The Madras Mystery tries to look into the murder, the trials, and the collapse of a famous symbol by combining courtroom drama with the interest in lost fame.
The series also marks Nazriya Nazim Fahadh's long-awaited return to Tamil film after an 11-year break. Nassar, YG Mahendran, and Natty also have important parts in the ensemble.

What It Means
The Madras Mystery: Fall of a Superstar is more than simply a web series. It's a look back at a time in Indian cinema that is no longer around. The goal of the show is to show how fame, scandal, and fate all came together during one of the darkest times in Tamil movie history.
