Tamil actor Vikram donates Rs 20 lakh to help Kerala's Wayanad landslide victims

Actor Chiyaan Vikram has recently made a generous donation of Rs. 20 lakh to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund. The funds will be utilized to support those affected by the devastating Wayanad landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall in the region.

According to the latest reports, more than 150 lives have been lost and 144 bodies have been recovered. Kerala's CM Pinarayi Vijayan said in a statement that 191 people are missing.

The news was recently shared by Vikram's manager Yuvraaj on X(formerly known as Twitter). He wrote, "Pained by the sad news of the devastation caused by the recent landslide in Kerala's #Wayanad district that left over 150 people dead, 197 injured and several others missing, Actor @chiyaan today donated a sum of Rs 20 lakhs to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund."

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said in a statement that rescue operations in Wayanad are continuing at full scale. This is an unprecedented and painful disaster. So far, 144 bodies have been recovered- 79 men and 64 women. There are still 191 people missing. Efforts are being made to evacuate as many people as possible from the disaster area, and necessary medical treatment is being provided to those who have been rescued.

Rescue teams from the 122 Infantry Battalion, stationed in Meppadi, continued their search and rescue efforts for the second day. Additional military personnel and resources, including medical teams and disaster relief experts, are being dispatched from Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru to the affected Calicut region.

Vikram will now next be seen in the highly anticipated film Thangalaan which is set to release on August 15. Based on the history of the Kolar Gold Field, the movie is directed by B. Ranjith and features a star-studded cast including Malavika Mohanan and Parvathy Thiruvothu. Produced by Studio Green, the film's music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. The film recently received a U/A certificate from the Censor Board.
