The film came out on July 18 as a Telugu–Kannada bilingual. It didn't do well in Karnataka, even though Kireeti kept saying that it was mostly a Kannada movie filmed in Telugu.

The Kannada version didn't do as well, but the Telugu version did a little better, bringing in most of the film's Rs 7.65 crore net collection. Junior's theatrical run ended in less than two weeks, which led to early speculation regarding an OTT release. The movie was made on a budget of roughly Rs 25 crore.

There are already rumors in the industry that the movie will come out on Amazon Prime Video about 30 days after it comes out, with the premiere date set for August 14, 2025. The streaming version will have audio tracks in both Kannada and Telugu.

The movie was meant to be a launchpad for Kireeti, and it also showed off his acting and dancing skills. A lot of evaluations said he was a bright new actor to watch. Kireeti wanted to make his first movie a family drama with legendary actor V Ravichandran. Radhakrishna made this happen in his second movie as a director.
Ravichandran plays Abhi's (Kireeti) overprotective father in the movie. His continual meddling makes his son want to stay away from him. When Abhi finds out that his father and the head of the software business where he works as an intern are connected in a surprising way, things change.

Junior was released to a lot of enthusiasm in 2022, but production was delayed for over a year after Kireeti got hurt while doing a stunt. Sreeleela, his co-star and one of the busiest actresses in Telugu film, was visibly missing from the second half because of scheduling difficulties created by the delays.

The movie is a musical by Devi Sri Prasad. It had the viral hit song "Viral Vayyari," which got a lot of attention because it was one of the few times a male lead outshone Sreeleela in a dance scene. Genelia Deshmukh, Rao Ramesh, Achyuth Kumar, and Kiran Srinivas are all in the supporting cast.
