Sushmita Sen, the iconic Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe, recently shared an intimate glimpse into her personal life, revealing that she has been single for the past two years. This revelation came during the debut episode of Rhea Chakraborty's podcast, "Chapter 2," where Sushmita dismissed rumours about her dating life and provided insights into her current state of mind.

Rumours had been swirling about Sushmita's relationship status, especially concerning her ex-boyfriend, Rohman Shawl. In a candid conversation with Rhea Chakraborty, Sushmita set the record straight, saying, "I have no man in my life. I’ve been single for a while. It has been almost two years since I have been single, to be precise since 2021... I am not in a relationship."

Sushmita emphasized that while she has wonderful friends, she is not currently dating anyone. This declaration comes as a surprise to many, given the speculations about her rekindling romance with Rohman Shawl. However, Sushmita's clarity about her single status puts an end to these conjectures.

Sushmita shared her perspective on enjoying her singlehood and the joy she finds in being independent. She stated, "I have some incredibly wonderful people in my life who are my friends and they are all just waiting for a moment for me to call them and say, 'Look, I’m pulling the car out, get in the backseat. We’re driving to Goa'."

This sentiment reflects Sushmita's appreciation for the freedom and spontaneity that comes with being single. She expressed that taking a break from dating has been refreshing, especially after being in a long-term relationship. "It is lovely to take a break because I was in a relationship for almost five years. And that was a long time," she added.

During the podcast, Sushmita and Rhea also touched upon the subject of media scrutiny and public perceptions. Sushmita had faced significant criticism on social media when her relationship with Lalit Modi became public. Many labeled her a "gold digger," a term that Sushmita and Rhea humorously addressed in their conversation.

Rhea teased Sushmita, saying, "Do you know there’s a bigger gold digger than you in the room?" To which Sushmita responded, "Oh really?" Rhea quipped, "Me." Sushmita then sarcastically added, "Oh, you also?" and Rhea affirmed, "I’m the biggest one."

This exchange was a light-hearted yet poignant reminder of the harsh judgments celebrities often face. The criticism Sushmita received for her relationship with Modi was based on superficial judgments about wealth and appearances, overshadowing her successful career and charitable work.

Sushmita Sen's candidness about her relationship status and her embrace of singlehood is a testament to her strength and independence. Her journey of self-discovery and the ability to find joy in her own company is inspiring. As she navigates her path forward, Sushmita continues to be a beacon of grace and resilience.
