Sonali Bendre talks about early experiences in film industry

Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, a well-known figure in the Hindi film industry of the 1990s, recently talked about the difficulties she encountered in the beginning of her career, especially the recurring rumours that connected her to co-stars.

The actress talked candidly with Times Now about how she handled the entertainment industry and developed resilience in the face of public scrutiny and media rumours.

Sonali candidly discussed how link-up rumours were an unavoidable part of being in the spotlight, especially for female actors. She recalled learning to deal with these challenges by developing emotional strength and learning from early missteps. "You learn to grow slightly thicker skin. I didn't make the same mistake twice. Once I learnt a lesson, I understood that this is how it works, and then I knew how to deal with it and nip it in the butt the next time. So, it never happened again," she said.

Sonali claimed that her early years were largely responsible for her capacity for adaptation and self-control. Her family moved frequently when she was growing up, so she attended different schools a lot.

Her flexibility, emotional independence, and ability to adapt to new situations were all enhanced by this early exposure to change, and these traits were crucial in the entertainment sector. She also acknowledged that these experiences had assisted her in fending off peer pressure and demands for approval from others.

On the nature of showbiz rumours, Sonali offered a balanced perspective, noting that not all stories stemmed from malice. "I realised that sometimes it's an overactive imagination of the journalist. Because today you talk about clickbait, that time it was headlines, and that headline sold the magazine. But sometimes it was because either the producer wanted the PR or the actor wanted to feel good about themselves, and that's why they were putting it out. There were multiple reasons for things to go out. So, you couldn't blame any one person. That was the circumstance and a part of the environment. So, the fact was that the same environment was giving me fame, money, and work," she remarked.

Prime Video is now streaming the movie, which also starred Abhishek Bachchan, Innayat Verma, and Nora Fatehi. She is currently preparing for her next project, a web series that will be directed by Prosit Roy and feature her alongside actor Ali Fazal.
