In order to ensure authenticity in his performances, actor Aamir Khan has opened up about the extreme lengths he went to in order to prepare for his roles in Ghulam (1998) and Raakh (1989). He revealed that he did not take a bath for 12 days during the filming of both films.

Speaking to ABP Live, Aamir addressed the rumour that he didn't bathe for over a week while filming these iconic roles, confirming it to be true. “I’ve done this not once, but twice," he said.

"During the filming of Raakh, I didn’t bathe because my character lives on the streets after leaving home. I wanted it to feel real, so I avoided bathing to look like someone who’s actually ended up on the road." He added.

Aamir went on to explain his reasoning for a similar approach during the filming of Ghulam. He said, “In Ghulam, there was a long action sequence in the climax where I get badly beaten up. Gradually, my injuries started increasing. If I had bathed every day after shooting, it would have ruined the continuity. So I decided not to bathe for a week to maintain the same look and feel for the scene. Because when you bathe the next day, you end up looking fresh—which I didn’t want."

Raakh and Ghulam are regarded as crucial motion pictures in Aamir Khan's career. While Aditya Bhattacharya's 1989 crime drama Raakh won three National Film Awards and was praised by critics, Vikram Bhatt's action-packed Ghulam also features Rani Mukerji.

On the work front, Aamir Khan is currently working on his next project is Sitaare Zameen Par, a "spiritual sequel" to his 2007 hit film Taare Zameen Par, which will mark his big-screen comeback. Genelia Deshmukh will play opposite Aamir in the movie, which will be his first theatrical appearance after a lengthy absence.

Divy Nidhi Sharma wrote the screenplay, Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit produced the film, which was directed by RS Prasanna. The movie, which is scheduled to open in theatres on June 20, will feature a number of new actors, including Samvit Desai, Gopi Krishna Varma, and Aroush Datta. Following his hiatus from acting, fans are excitedly awaiting Aamir's comeback to the big screen.
