Social media influencer Chatori Rajani has become a poignant voice in India’s road safety conversation, stressing the importance of empathy and immediate action on roads to help accident victims and potentially save lives. Rajani — known for her relatable food and lifestyle content — shared her deeply personal experience at the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2026, a nationwide campaign aimed at promoting responsible road behaviour and awareness to reduce road crash fatalities.

At the event, Rajani recounted the heartbreaking loss of her 16-year-old son, Taran, who died in a road accident in 2025. She revealed that by the time her son was taken to the hospital, it was too late, and doctors later told her that had he received help sooner, his life might have been saved. Rajani highlighted how bystanders hesitated to act, and one Good Samaritan later expressed regret for not acting immediately after listening to others who discouraged him from helping.

Rajani’s testimony struck a chord with many — including Bollywood celebrities Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt, both of whom attended the campaign event. Amitabh Bachchan later described on his blog how moved everyone was by Rajani’s courageous speech and plea for compassion. He praised her for using her personal loss not to garner sympathy but to urge people to be more humane and responsive when accidents occur so that others do not face similar tragedies.

“Lost her son in a road accident .. no one came to help , and she lost him .. later learnt from Hospital that had he been brought in earlier he could have been saved .. A brave lady to have come on this public platform and share this incident publicly, without any malice, but a plea for future humans to emulate,” Bachchan wrote.

Her message centred on empathy — that if people on the road could act with kindness and step in to help injured victims immediately, many lives could be spared. Rajani’s appeal touched audiences nationwide, reinforcing that small acts of compassion — like stopping to assist an accident victim — can make a critical difference.

Her involvement in the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan has also helped elevate conversations about road safety beyond statistics and laws, focusing on human responsibility, compassion, and courage in the face of crisis.
