Shatrughan Sinha has strongly defended his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha, against criticism following her marriage to Zaheer Iqbal. The veteran actor emphasized that marriage is a personal choice and should not be subjected to public scrutiny or criticism. Speaking to Times Now, Sinha expressed his disappointment with those who protested against his daughter's marriage, labeling it as interference in personal matters.

"A wedding is a very personal decision between two people; no one has the right to interfere or comment," Sinha stated. He attended Sonakshi and Zaheer's civil marriage on June 23 and asserted that their union is legally valid and entirely appropriate.

Regarding the protests organized by the Hindu Shiv Bhawani Sena in Patna, Bihar, where they termed the marriage as 'love jihad' and demanded Sonakshi stay away from the place, Shatrughan Sinha was unequivocal in his response. "To all the protestors I say – go, get a life. Do something useful in your life," he remarked. Sinha dismissed the allegations against his daughter, emphasizing that she has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional."

Sinha also quoted legendary lyricist Anand Bakshi's words, "Kucch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna," adding his own sentiment, "Kehne waale agar bekar, bekaam-kaaj ke ho to kehna hi kaam ban jata hai" (If those who speak have no other useful work, then speaking becomes their job).

Addressing rumors of family discord, Sinha reiterated his unwavering support for his daughter. "Every father waits for this moment when his daughter is given to her chosen groom," he affirmed. Sinha expressed happiness over Sonakshi's union with Zaheer, wishing them a blessed life together.

Sonakshi and Zaheer, who dated for seven years, faced backlash on social media following their wedding. In response to the hatred and trolling, the couple disabled comments on their wedding photos. They tied the knot on June 23 and later hosted a lavish wedding reception attended by stars from the entertainment industry.
