Shaan R Grover talks about sharing the screen with Ahaan Panday in Saiyaara, says 'We dreamed of doing a film together' - exclusive

Actor Shaan, who plays the antagonist in the romantic blockbuster Saiyaara, recently opened up about his experience working alongside debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.

With the film receiving widespread acclaim and breaking records both at the box office and on music charts, Shaan’s role has also garnered attention for its complexity and depth.

Reflecting on his bond with co-star Ahaan Panday, Shaan shared that their friendship dates back several years.

He told Moneycontrol, “I’ve known Ahaan since 2016. We trained under Shanoo ma’am and bonded early on. I remember him once saying, ‘It’ll be so much fun when we do a film together someday.’ And now, here we are!”

That dream finally materialised with Saiyaara, and for Shaan, it felt like a full-circle moment. The camaraderie between the two actors, forged during their early acting workshops, brought a natural rhythm to their performances on screen—even as their characters found themselves at odds in the narrative.

Shaan also had high praise for Aneet Padda, who plays the female lead opposite Ahaan. “As for Aneet, she’s so grounded and talented,” he said. “We had several workshops to build our chemistry, especially because our characters have a five-year backstory. She’s goofy, dramatic, fun — and an amazing actor.”

As the antagonist, Shaan had the unique challenge of creating tension while also bringing authenticity to his character’s motivations. His rapport with Ahaan and Aneet off-screen helped build the emotional layers necessary to elevate the film’s drama.

Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara has struck a chord with audiences for its emotional depth, nostalgic romance, and chart-topping soundtrack. With young talent like Shaan, Ahaan Panday, and Aneet Padda leading the charge, the film is quickly becoming a defining release of 2025.
