Saif Ali Khan at WAVES Summit on Indian Cinema’s Global Future: We have the best stories in the world to tell

On May 1, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan made a striking appearance at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), where he shared his views on the future of Indian cinema, its growing global footprint, and the untapped creative potential within the country. The Summit, supported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, FICCI, and other stakeholders, aimed to bring together thought leaders, creators, and innovators from the entertainment world.

Saif praised the initiative, calling it a “fantastic platform” that holds the key to connecting diverse creative forces across India and beyond. “I think it’s a fantastic platform and a wonderful initiative by the Prime Minister, by the IB Ministry, FICCI, and everybody involved. And I am very excited — the thing is connectivity, to connect not only internationally but even our country. To connect the dots between North and South,” he said.

Expressing his optimism about India’s storytelling legacy, Saif emphasized, “We have so many wonderful stories to tell. We have the best stories in the world to tell. Our film industry is so popular internationally, and we have much love. And I would like to see it go to the next level, and this is a wonderful platform for that.”

The actor also spotlighted the value of intra-national collaboration and the need to tap into India’s lesser-known talent pools. “It’s about collaborations and it’s also about giving opportunities inside our country because there is so much untapped talent and that’s the most exciting thing,” he said.

Speaking about evolving content landscapes, Saif added, “There are wonderful stories in animation, video games — anyway India has been doing that for other people before and winning awards. I think if we did it for ourselves, it would be wonderful.”
