Bollywood actor Rimi Sen has taken legal action against Land Rover, demanding Rs 50 crore in compensation, claiming her vehicle has numerous defects. Rimi Sen purchased the luxury car for Rs 92 lakh in 2020 from Satish Motors Pvt. Ltd., an authorized Jaguar Land Rover dealer.

The car came with a warranty valid until January 2023. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, the vehicle remained largely unused until restrictions eased.

Once Rimi Sen began using the car more frequently, she allegedly encountered several issues, including problems with the sunroof, sound system, and rear-end camera.

According to her complaint, one of the most significant incidents occurred on August 25, 2022, when the malfunctioning rear-end camera led to a collision with a pillar. Despite reporting these issues to the dealers, Rimi Sen claims that they were dismissive, asking her for evidence before taking any action.

The situation escalated into a cycle of ongoing repairs, where one problem would be addressed, only for another to arise. Rimi Sen's legal notice accuses Land Rover of selling a defective car and failing to adequately maintain it.

According to a Bollywood Bubble reports Rimi Sen quoted “I was absolutely disappointed with the car company and its services. Worst was their attitude towards their customer.”

Talking about one of the incidents where her rear camera was not functional, she added, “I bumped into a pillar, but it easily could have been a human being. And no amount of money or anything could have saved someone’s life."

Further said "Their negligence could have cost someone’s life. It was life-threatening. I could have easily been in a fatal accident. I’ve demanded 50 crores as compensation, and I absolutely deserve it for all the trauma that I endured. I hope I get justice. My lawyers, Pushpa Ganediwala & company, are looking after it.“

She asserts that the car has been sent for repairs more than ten times, yet the issues persist, causing her significant mental harassment and inconvenience.

Rimi Sen is seeking Rs 50 crore in compensation for the mental distress she has endured due to the faulty vehicle. In addition, she is demanding Rs 10 lakh to cover her legal expenses and is also requesting a replacement for the defective car.

The case highlights the challenges consumers can face when dealing with luxury car brands and the importance of reliable after-sales service.

As the legal battle unfolds, it brings attention to the need for accountability in the automotive industry, especially when dealing with high-end vehicles.
