Recently, megastar Chiranjeevi praised Shiva and shared a video expressing his admiration for the film, which quickly went viral.

Ram Gopal Varma has announced the re-release of his classic Telugu film Shiva, starring Nagarjuna Akkineni and Amala Akkineni, on November 14.

The film, which originally revolutionized Telugu cinema upon its release, is making a comeback to theatres to mark the 101st birth anniversary of legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao.

Recently, megastar Chiranjeevi praised Shiva and shared a video expressing his admiration for the film, which quickly went viral. Responding to the video, Ram Gopal Varma took to social media to thank Chiranjeevi and also issued a heartfelt apology.

He wrote, “Thank you @KChiruTweets gaaru. Also, on this occasion, I want to sincerely apologise to you if I ever unintentionally offended you. Thank you once again for your large-heartedness.” Earlier, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had also lauded the film for its influence and vision.

However, fans were not happy with his apology. One fan wrote, "Egoism is a big monster ever, if you had realized & killed it 25 years ago, the destiny of Tollywood might have been, beyond imagination..it’s too late to realize…" Another fan commented, "Intentionally you hurted him."

In his video, Chiranjeevi recalled being stunned after watching Shiva for the first time. He appreciated Nagarjuna and Amala Akkineni for their strong performances and highlighted how the film was ahead of its time.

He further encouraged younger audiences, particularly Gen Z, to watch Shiva, calling it a benchmark in Telugu cinema. Chiranjeevi also praised Ram Gopal Varma’s direction, recalling how he instantly recognized the filmmaker’s potential and believed he would become the future of Telugu cinema.

Shiva tells the story of a college student who takes a stand against a violent gang that dominates the campus. Its gritty storytelling, realistic portrayal of student politics, and powerful performances made it a cult classic.

Interestingly, Ram Gopal Varma’s public apology comes years after he made a controversial tweet in 2016 about Chiranjeevi’s comeback film Khaidi No. 150. At the time, he mocked the title choice by comparing it to Khaidi No. 786, a film released 28 years earlier. However, he later apologised for his remarks.

Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi is set to appear next in Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, where he stars alongside Nayanthara. The re-release of Shiva is expected to draw nostalgic fans and new viewers alike, celebrating a film that continues to inspire generations of filmmakers and audiences.
