Kannada actor Dhanush Raj has reportedly approached the Girinagar police station in Bengaluru, alleging that he was assaulted and harassed by his wife following repeated suspicions about his movements.

Meanwhile, as reported by NDTV, the police have also registered a separate FIR based on a complaint filed by Ashrita against Dhanush Raj at the same Girinagar police station. In her complaint, she accused the actor of dowry harassment, physical assault, and emotional abuse.

According to Ashrita, she married Dhanush Raj on March 2, 2025, in Uttarahalli, Bengaluru, in accordance with Hindu customs. She stated that her parents gifted 50 grams of gold jewellery and conducted the wedding as per the requests made by the groom’s family.

After the marriage, Ashrita moved into her husband’s residence in Hosakerehalli, Bengaluru, where she lived with him and his family members. She alleged that after an initial period of cordial behaviour, Dhanush Raj and his family began demanding an additional ₹8 lakh as dowry, claiming that what her parents had given during the wedding was insufficient.

Ashrita further alleged that when she expressed her parents’ inability to meet the demand, she was verbally abused and humiliated. She also claimed that her husband was in contact with other women and had taken photographs with them. When she confronted him about this, she alleged that she was physically assaulted, including being kicked, and was subsequently sent back to her parental home.

The complaint also stated that her parents later arranged a panchayat settlement, following which she returned to live with her husband. However, she claimed that the alleged harassment and abuse continued.

Apart from his work in films such as Shivaji Surathkal, Dhanush Raj has also appeared in several television serials and short films. The matter is currently under investigation, with police examining both complaints as they continue to probe the allegations made by both parties.
