‘I had been waiting to do something like this…’ Arjun Ashokan on Chatha Pacha and how it changed him

After the success of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, director Anil Ravipudi is reportedly planning a new collaboration with Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati. While buzz suggests the duo may share screen space soon, it remains unclear whether the project is a fresh film or a sequel, with official confirmation awaited.

Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies… this film is doing well at the box office and has Malayalam actor Arjun Ashokan playing the lead role. The actor grew up in a time when WWE was all the rage. Wrestling was as much about performance and personality as it was about fighting. John Cena, The Undertaker, The Rock, and Stone-Cold Steve Austin were more than just fighters; they were larger-than-life entertainers.

In an interview with The Hindu, Arjun says when he was offered Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies, he didn't think twice. Adhvaith Nayar directed the movie, which goes straight into that flashy, high-energy world. Based on the trailer, it looks like it will be an adrenaline-pumping movie experience.

Arjun plays Loco Lobo from Mattancherry, a flashy, loud, and physically dominant character that is very different from anything he has played before. He shares the screen with Vishakh Nair and Roshan Mathew.

The movie is also different for Arjun in terms of how big and intense the action is.

"I had been waiting to do something like this," he said in the interview. He adds that his long friendship with Adhvaith, who used to be an assistant director on Thuramukham, made the collaboration even more special.

The trailer hints at rough, very physical wrestling-style action, with actors slamming, jumping, and crashing into each other in scenes that are based on WWE.

The team has shared behind-the-scenes videos that show how hard they worked to get these sequences just right.

Arjun says that Chatha Pacha is one of the hardest projects he's ever worked on physically.

"We trained for almost three months because the movie is based on WWE. You can't take a shortcut; you have to look convincing, or the audience won't believe you," he says.

The training was mostly about learning how to fight without getting hurt.

Arjun says he enjoyed every part of the process, even though it was hard. "I had met Roshan and Vishakh before, but this was the first time we worked together. We grew closer during the training and the shoot. The movie has a carnival-like energy, and it was a lot of fun to see it with them."

The project also changed the way he lived his life. "Fitness is the most important thing I learned. Right now, I'm healing from an injury, but not from the shoot. It was from working out.

The actor worked on Chatha Pacha for almost a year straight, turning down other projects during that time. People praised Arjun's nuanced performance as Jyothish, a man with vitiligo, in the 2025 movie Thalavara. Even though the movie didn't do well at the box office, people liked his understated acting. Arjun has Disco, director Arun Gopy's first movie, and the Tamil movie Moonwalk coming up next.

It's interesting that the people who made Chatha Pacha chose to stay out of the spotlight during filming. Kalai Kingston, who is known for his work on Marco, is in charge of the movie's intense action scenes.

With Chatha Pacha, Arjun shows once more that he doesn't want to be put into a box of stereotypes. "I want to be in good movies with great teams. That's when your work really stands out. I'm even helping out with Disco because I believe in the people who are making it."
