Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and actor Vikrant Massey were honoured with the 71st National Film Award for Best Actor on September 23, Tuesday. Shah Rukh received the award for his stellar performance in the pan-India blockbuster Jawan, while Vikrant was recognised with the Rajat Kamal for his moving role in 12th Fail.
Actress Rani Mukerji was named Best Actress at the same ceremony for her powerful portrayal in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.
One of the most heartwarming moments of the evening came right after the awards were handed out. Vikrant, Rani, and Shah Rukh were seen on camera sitting next to each other and assisting each other in donning their medals.
As the video was widely shared on social media, the celebrities' humility and friendship won hearts of the fans.
Shah Rukh receives Vikrant's Swarna Kamal medal at the beginning of the video, and the three of them start adjusting their medals together. Shah Rukh appeared to have trouble wearing his, but Vikrant and Rani were able to do so with ease. Rani intervened promptly to assist him in correctly repairing it, resulting in a charming moment that immediately captured the attention of the audience.
Rani checked her phone to make sure her medal was in the proper position after adjusting her own, and then she turned to Shah Rukh to ask about the appearance of hers.
Shah Rukh then turned to Vikrant for his opinion, and once Vikrant assured him it was perfect, SRK gave a cheerful thumbs up.
The trio beamed with pride, wearing their medals and sharing bright smiles as they celebrated their well-deserved recognition.
Several fans quickly took to the comment section as they admired their friendship and the trio's happiness as they wore their medals. One fan wrote, "Love d way Shah showed his medal to Pooja, so child like affirmation." Another fan wrote, "So cute!!! Like kids na? Earning a medal is such a beautiful feeling." A comment read, "Achievements always hits different at any age." A fan wrote, "Aww look at that happiness especially those smiles at the end…"
Droupadi Murmu, the president of India, gave out the awards. The occasion was made even more memorable by the fact that this was Shah Rukh and Vikrant's first National Award. It was especially meaningful to Shah Rukh because it was his first National Award in a career that has lasted over thirty years.
The 71st National Film Awards, which celebrate excellence in Indian cinema for the year 2023, had been announced on 1 August 2025 by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
