Rajinikanth starrer Coolie teaser to be released on director Lokesh Kanagaraj's birthday: Reports

Rajinikanth to star in Coolie

Rajinikanth gears up for his two new blockbusters. The actors has already wrapped up filming Coolie and has started working on his next film, Jailer 2, with director Nelson Dilipkumar. However, with the post-production work for Coolie is simultaneously underway, the film’s teaser is speculated to be released on director Lokesh Kanagaraj's birthday.

According to India Today reports, the teaser of Rajinikanth starrer Coolie will release on March 14 to mark Lokesh’s birthday. Interestingly, Holi also fall on the same day.

The makers of Coolie are still in the process of finalising a release date, with August 14 being initially considered, as well as alternative dates in September and October, coinciding with Onam and Diwali festivals.

Sun Pictures is set to announce the release date, which will be determined by considering the scheduling of other Tamil films and big-budget releases from other languages. If the film is slated for a second-half 2025 release, the makers might unveil a promo or glimpse on Lokesh's birthday, rather than a full teaser.

However, the makers have previously unveiled a title teaser of the film with a glimpse of Rajinikath's character. The title teaser also featured a few action sequences creating a buzz among the audience.

Directed and written by Lokesh, the upcoming Tamil language action thriller features an ensemble cast alongside Rajinikanth as Deva in the pivotal role. The film includes Nagarjuna as Simon, Upendra as Kaleesha, Soubin Shahir as Dayal, Sathyaraj as Rajasekar, Shruti Haasan as Preethi, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR among others.

Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde will also make a cameo in the upcoming film. The film is produced under Sun Pictures. Rajinikanth's 171st film features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The upcoming action-thriller is reported to be titled after the 1983 Amitabh Bachchan Hindi classic film.
