The release of Coolie's most recent song, Powerhouse, which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starred Rajinikanth, has increased the anticipation for the film to unprecedented levels. Composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the song was released on Tuesday night and is already causing a stir due to its intense energy and a deftly placed reference to the beloved American television show Breaking Bad.

Fans Are Electrified by "Powerhouse"

Powerhouse, a throbbing 3-minute-28-second number that features Rajinikanth thrashing his way through a group of opponents, is set during what seems to be a major fight sequence in the movie. The lyrical video's striking monochrome with gold accents visually heightens the action.

Anirudh and Arivu, who wrote the lyrics, both sing in the song.

The famous lines "Say my name" and "Goddamn right," which were uttered by Bryan Cranston's character Walter White in Breaking Bad, were what really took fans by surprise. Social media was ablaze with excitement as these lines were incorporated into the beat.

Admirers Recognize the "Heisenberg" Link

Fans shared mashups and reactions on X (formerly Twitter) after the release. "Coolie #Powerhouse ft. Heisenberg from Breaking Bad" was the title of one post that went viral. TALK MY NAME! "Blended so well, Breaking Bad dialogue into a banger like it's part of the beat—peak crossover fr," said another, praising Anirudh's musical ability.

When Anirudh performed the song live at a promotional event in Hyderabad, the tribute was first noticed. The audience's response demonstrated that the subtle allusion had resonated with viewers of both international and Kollywood television.

Legal Battle Concerning Music Use

There has been controversy surrounding Coolie's music. Legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja sent a legal notice to Sun Pictures, the film's producers, after the teaser was released in May. He claimed that they had used a part of his song Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa from the 1983 movie Thanga Magan without giving him the appropriate royalties.

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj came under fire from Ilaiyaraaja, who described the use as exploitative. Whether the song will be included in the finished cut of the movie is still unknown. Everyone is waiting for the August 14 release.

It looks like Coolie will be a huge pan-Indian hit. The film, which is supported by Sun Pictures and produced by Kalanithi Maran, stars Rajinikanth alongside Nagarjuna, Upendra, Aamir Khan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat.

The highly anticipated War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR will be a fierce rival to Coolie when it opens in theaters on August 14. Coolie is gaining a lot of traction before its release, as Powerhouse is already causing a stir online. Coolie appears prepared to deliver something remarkable, regardless of whether you're a fan of Breaking Bad or Thalaivar.
